the united states of america (nicknamed U.S or the U.S.A) is a federal constitutional republic comprising fifty states and federal district.

the USA is mostly situated in central north america with its forty-eight contiguous states and Washington D.C – capitral district, lie between Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, bordered by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south.

The state of Alaska is situated in the northwest of the USA. The states of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific.

 

The northeast :

The region consists of nine states : the New England states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut (Hartford)  and the mid-atlantic states of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

 

New England is a region in the northeastern corner of the continent consisting of six states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island

 

The southeast :

North Carolina (Raleigh), South Carolina (Columbia), Florida (Tallahassee), Alabama (Montgomery), Tennessee (Nashville), Louisiana (Baton Rouge), Mississippi (Jackson), Kentucky (Frankfort), Georgia (Atlanta), Virginia (Richmond), West Virginia (Charleston)

 

Alabama&Louisiana are the poorest states

New York – Niagara Falls, Empire State Building, The Statue of Liberty, Hudson River, NYU

New York divides into five parts : Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island.

Georgia – a hug for aircrafts

Alabama is important to space industry. When you are there you have to visit Huntsville (scientists have developed many important spacecraft and rockets there)

Louisiana (Baton Rouge) is important to New Orleans

Rhode Island – Brown University, death penalty is no longer held there

Connecticut – Yale University; bigger cities : Greenwich, New Haven, Waterbury, New Britan, Bridgeport

New Jersey – Princeton; Princeton University

Maine – lobsters

Massachusetts – Boston; Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Harvard University
